Event description
Step into the kitchens of 11 home cooks and be prepared to be blown away by the mouth-watering flavours of their traditional curries!

About this Event

We Singaporeans love eating curry. Assam Fish Head, Eurasian’s Devil’s Curry, Aloo Gobi and Tikka Masala – the possibilities are endless. How many of these curries have you tried?

Makan My Curry brings Singaporeans into the homes of 11 different home cooks to hear more about the processes and stories behind their curries and culture.

What is Bengali Curry?

Lick your plate clean with this well-balanced curry. The curry is on the drier side and usually garnished with chopped coriander to bring out its savoury notes. This flavour bomb of a dish goes perfectly with a steaming hot bowl of fluffy white rice.

About the cook

Foodie and cook Mala Begum runs an Instagram business called @_malaskitchen_ where she sells an assortment of tasty confections and traditional Indian snacks. She also cooks a mean Bengali curry which she whips out for special gatherings.

Ms Mala, who came to Singapore from Bangladesh in 2006, regularly collaborates with Kitchen Movements, an organisation which holds cook-offs between chefs to raise funds for Daughters of Tomorrow - a charity which empowers women from low-income families.
