Event description
Step into the kitchens of 11 home cooks and be prepared to be blown away by the mouth-watering flavours of their traditional curries!

About this Event

We Singaporeans love eating curry. Assam Fish Head, Eurasian’s Devil’s Curry, Aloo Gobi and Tikka Masala – the possibilities are endless. How many of these curries have you tried?Makan My Curry brings Singaporeans into the homes of 11 different home cooks to hear more about the processes and stories behind their curries and culture.

What is Punjabi Chole?

Punjabi chole, also known as chana masala, is a chickpea stew. Onions and tomatoes are added to a base of masala. It is usually served on special occasions in North Indian households accompanied with rice or puri which is a type of fluffy, fried bread.

About the cook

Hailing from India’s capital of Delhi, Vandana Sharma now calls River Valley in Singapore her home. She is passionate about whipping up quick, nutritious and wholesome meals for her family. Her repertoire includes lentil curry which is high in fibre and protein.

She leaves her other signature dishes - saag paneer cottage cheese and Punjabi chole with poori - for family gatherings and the festive season.

“I make chole on weekends, not weekdays as it is quite rich and heavy,” she said.

She believes that the secret to making a good curry is not the quantity of spices used but the freshness of the vegetables added to the mix. A good tip for us novice cooks!
