MAKING SENSE WORKSHOP – HOW TO BE A GOOD FINANCIAL MUM AND DAD

Our mission statement in GEN is "Impacting GENerations" for financial planning is not about one generation but generations after generations. You can impact generations whether you have children or not but for those who have children, our environment can sometimes be quite a challenging place to negotiate parenthood.

For financial planners, there is a question often asked to us. Does more money make better parents or will more money make parenting better? We don’t know but what we do know is as parents, we have to be wise with the use of money.

There is an old saying that goes something like "Whatever you are afraid of, you won't do". Perhaps, part of the solution to boosting fertility is helping people understand better the financial considerations as this is usually a show stopper.

Consider the following questions...

• What are the costs involved in raising a child?
• Can I afford one?
• What schemes are available for me to use?
• Should I consider pregnancy insurance?
• What fundamental financial needs do a child have?
• What should I do when it comes to financial matters as a parent?
• What should I NOT do when it comes to financial matters as a parent?
• Is Education really that costly?
• How should I plan my estate matters?

We can go on and on but you get the point. We can't put this into an email so the next best thing is to build a workshop for all who intend to or already have children.
