Sharing Session 23 May
STORYTELLING ~ entertainment. connection. motivation

Have you ever wonder how some of the people you met are better story-tellers than others? And how they actually captivate and engage their audience so well that you could visualise their stories in your mind. Knowing and applying the art of storytelling will not only strengthen your stories, but also develop the desired interest in the audience.

Join our volunteer speakers, Moses Sia and Sylvia Sim who will share about their own storytelling experiences! Moses, an educator with more than 15 years of teaching experience, will guide you through the 101 of Storytelling using of digital technology. Sylvia who has published 5 books in celebration of SG50, will talk about her own experience in putting the stories together for publication.

Note: To enjoy the learning experience, please download the app “TinyTap” prior to attending the session. Note that there is no wi-fi available at the venue.

About Moses Sia & Sylvia Sim

Moses Sia is an educator at large and a learner at heart. He spent 15 years with MOE in various roles before setting up Pauseability, an education consultancy in 2007. More recently, he headed a school in Bandung, Indonesia and in 2016, he published a book entitled Creative Cool Cat: A Guide to TIM-BUG-tool which he wrote and illustrated. He has facilitated workshops for the young and the young at heart in creativity, art, pedagogy and the use of educational technology.

Sylvia Sim started to learn how to sew at a tender age. She subsequently went on to learn nail sculpture and hairdressing, and began her career in bridal makeup. When Lupus came into her life at 25, it never deterred her spirit to continue learning and doing voluntary work. More than 10 years ago, she created her mini Saga Seed jewellery line named "Bouquet of Joys". In celebration of SG50, Sylvia was also involved in writing 5 books (e.g. “Keeping Depression at Bay”, “Seniors – Reflections and Sharing”) under the guidance of RSVP.

U 3RD AGE

U 3RD Age (University of the Third Age) encourages senior citizens to seek meanings in their life, through lifelong learning and social networking. It is by sharing experiences and making friends – regardless of whether they are rich, highly educated, or had held high job positions – that happy and active ageing is achieved.

U 3RD Age is an environment where respect for life as a learning journey – making mistakes, missing opportunities, and learning to understand each other’s wisdom and cultural values. It is also the place where café conversations on health care, wealth creation, and spiritual development are held. It is such activities that contributed to one’s developmental learning.
