Event description

Description

A sense of loss tends to accompany the realisation that we are not the same person we once were. Perhaps our joy has left us, or perhaps it’s our creativity, our curiosity, a natural self-confidence, or the ability to take delight in the simplest of pleasures – and we are left with the feeling that something is missing.

This workshop offers the experience of reconnecting with our Inner Child’s longings for joy, nurturance, understanding and freedom to be. The facilitators’ unique signature of a blended approach encompasses dual modalities of thoughtful meditation and healing movements, deepening the experience by bringing both our minds and bodies on a common journey.

In the first segment, we will be guided through a meditation to settle our minds before embarking on a journey into the garden of our hearts where we will unlock our “delayed feelings of happiness”. Immersing ourselves into the abundance that has always been, there is where we will meet our Inner Child.

In the second half of the workshop, personal material from earlier meditation have the opportunity to come alive, and resonate in our bodies, through authentic movement explorations.

With guidance from a Former Monk and qualified Dance Movement Psychotherapist, we will deepen encounters, expand upon and rediscover embodied expressions of our Inner Child, as well as discover how to creatively harmonise these within our adult selves. There will also be opportunity for our Inner Child to meet and connect with others in genuine and spontaneous ways without the need for words, bringing a different experiential understanding of relationship.

This is a rare and powerful workshop not to be missed.

About Hendrick ‘DK’ Phua and Shi Han Chan

Hendrick ‘DK’ Phua is a meditation teacher, mindfulness coach, writer, former monk and Founder of The Hermitage. He has been teaching meditation and building mindfulness communities since 2012. As an author, he has published two books ‘Garden of Mangala’ and ‘Daydreams of a Millennial Monk’.

From sleaze to zen as he calls it, DK’s search for happiness and meaning began in 2011 when he felt empty in the materialistic world. That led to him uncovering meditation in Thailand and travelling extensively to learn from various teachers and traditions to master the pragmatic application of ancient wisdom. He avoids intellectual discussions and presenting spirituality as a topic by translating his insights into a simple and integrated way that brings meaning and ‘zenness’ into everyday life. His light-hearted style has been well-received by his students and clients from around the world.
