The surau (Islamic place of worship) within Kampung Lorong Buangkok holds immense religious and personal value to Rahim! Find out more about his family history and Muslim prayers and practices conducted outside the mosque within Singapore’s last kampung!

Despite its humble outer appearance, the Kampung Lorong Buangkok Surau is a significant place of worship for the local community, with a history dating back to the 1960s! Join Rahim who will be sharing more about Muslim prayers and practices, his grandfather’s involvement with the founding of the surau and the evolution of this surau as a centre for the local community. Heartwarming stories and insights await at MCF2022!

  • Please arrive 15 minutes before the event for registration. Our facilitators will be wearing our event t-shirt.
  • Parking is available at the Multi Storey carpark at Blk 998 Buangkok Crescent (998 Buangkok Crescent, Singapore 530998). (Approx. 5 min walk to entrance of Kampong)
  • Venue is wheelchair accessible.
  • The event will proceed rain or shine.

Who should come?

  • Participants must be fully vaccinated.

What to bring?

  • Participants should be dressed respectfully in smart casual (i.e. collared shirt, long pants and covered shoes). Sleeveless attire, shorts/miniskirts or sandals are strictly not allowed. Participants will be denied entry if they dress inappropriately.
  • Participants should bring along an umbrella and a bottle of water.
  • Asthmatic individuals are encouraged to bring their inhaler.
