Mysterious Forest - Night Walk at Bukit Batok Park

Highlights:

• A walk in the park after dark for the adventurous! Armed with torches, we will hunt for different kinds of nocturnal wildlife.

• Try and discover nocturnal animals such as colugos in the canopy, scorpions among the logs, or walking catfish in the streamlets.

• Marvel at the glowing colours of organisms under UV-light.

Tour synopsis:

This walk will show us the forest in a different light. With the silvery rays of the moon falling through the gaps in the canopy and the eerie shadows thrown among the trees by the streetlamps as a backdrop, we will try and penetrate the darkness by the beams of our torches to cast light on the lives of these and other cryptic creatures of the night.

Owls hooting in the distance, crickets serenading their ladies, bats manoeuvering expertly around the heads of the joggers, a pair of eyes glowing mysteriously in the shadows - the forest never sleeps. Look out for the iconic colugos (or flying lemurs) forage through the canopy and try to spot freshwater crabs and frogs along the banks and in the streamlets or katydids and stick insects munching on leaves under cover of the night!

Recommended minimum age: 6 years

Walk will be conducted in compliance with the Safe Management Measures published by the Singapore Tourism Board.

Minors must be accompanied by an adult.

This event is an outdoor activity subject to the whims of the elements. It may have to be shortened, delayed or aborted for safety reasons in case of inclement weather. No refund will be given in this case.
