About this event
Once you step into the Straits Enclave (Singapore) it is like taking a step back in time ~100 years into a 1920s Peranakan Chinese home when these architecturally stunning shophouses were constructed in the heritage district of Joo Chiat.
Guest will gain the understanding of Singapore's Peranakan Chinese heritage and culture (~1 hour plus Peranakan culture and heritage talk), hear about the stories of many interesting items as one is led round the museum.
Guests are welcomed by a captivating ambience, followed by a feast for their eyes where they will be tickled with stories behind them. The place provides fascinating insights into the development of this unique culture and heritage that infuses Colonial, Chinese and Malay influences into their living spaces, furniture, deco, art, tapestry, kitchen wares, dressing, and more.
