Description

Novena: Mindfulness-Based Therapy for Insomnia (MBTI) - Jun 22 - Aug 17(Sat)

(*Seniors enjoy a National Silver Academy subsidy)

Mindfulness Based Therapy for Insomnia (MBTI) Program, developed by Dr Jason Ong, consists of eight classes and one all-day class. There are 23.5 hours of learning and mindfulness practice hours. This program was developed from a variety of resources and teachings in sleep medicine and psychological science. The mindfulness practices are based on the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program (MBSR) and the Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Depression Program (MBCT).

MBTI is designed to help individuals increase awareness of the territory of insomnia and to develop adaptive ways of working with reducing unwanted wakefulness at night. MBTI includes specific behavioral recommendations that are designed to promote sleep regulation. Through the principles of mindfulness, you will learn to effectively manage the emotional reactions that commonly arise during the course of chronic insomnia.

The outcomes are:

  • Improve your sleep quality through reduced stress, sleeplessness, and other insomnia symptoms

  • Cultivation of greater self-awareness to bring about changes in unhealthy thoughts and behaviors surrounding sleep
