In this hour-long guided tour, you will be transported to a Straits Chinese family home in the 1920s, furnished with heirlooms from the Wee family (the previous owners of the house) and other donors. Artefacts at the NUS Baba House are displayed in their original context. In the master bedroom, for example, a set of red-and-gold bridal beds survives intact.
The third floor has been converted to an art gallery for exhibitions and projects that foster contemporary engagements with Peranakan culture and the history and architecture of the house. Academic researchers and art practitioners are invited to explore and present on the community and neighbourhood from different perspectives.
Limited to 13 pax per session with advanced booking required. Due to the conserved interior of the Baba House, this programme is best suited for adults and children aged 12 and above.
The guided tour will begin promptly at 10.00am and guests are requested to arrive at least five minutes before the start of the tour.
