Event description
Visit little-known places of worship, observe their rituals and cultural practices and partake in their traditional meals!

About this Event

Every F1 season, we see 10 religious leaders standing along the F1 track to bless the road. People can typically identify these religious leaders - such as the Christian bishop and Catholic ‘Father’, or the Buddhist monk. But there are religions and faiths in Singapore that are less-heard of, though they are celebrated by some of our local communities. We will be visiting their sacred sites and places of worship.

About Central Sikh Gurdwara

The Central Sikh Gurdwara was opened in 1986 by former president Wee Kim Wee. In 1999, the authorities declared it a historical site. Apart from the main prayer hall, the gurdwara also houses a library, an open-air pool and other community facilities.

Apinder Singh who is part of the Central Sikh Gurdwara Board describes the Sikh community as a very loving and welcoming one. He noted however, that the community is experiencing an emerging number of identity issues among Singaporean Sikhs especially in light of the decreasing number of fluent Punjabi speakers in Singapore. As such, Mr Singh said he and the board have been working tirelessly to reach more members of the local Sikh community.
