Join Mekhala to explore a different way of practising yoga (with chairs)


Chair Yoga can have multiple functions for different groups of people. It is extremely helpful for those who suffer from injuries (like knee or back injuries) to continue stretching their bodies without the danger of hurting themselves in the regular mat yoga. It is good for senior people who will like to embark on a more gentle way of stretching due to ageing. It is also very beneficial for busy office workers to learn some stretches or poses (modified from regular mat yoga) that they can apply in their office environment during short breaks.

In this series of 9 sessions, we will learn a variety of yoga poses on the chair focusing mainly on the needs of office workers.

The class is designed and modified with the foundation of classical Sivananda Yoga.
We have a small class. Students will be given more attention by the teacher.

About the Teacher

Mekhala is a Singapore Sivananda Yoga Teacher and a student of Buddhism. She has been practising Sivananda Yoga since 2007 and Vipassana Meditation since 2009. Mekhala follows the classical ways of conducting Yoga by emphasising on the importance of breathing and relaxation technique on top of the poses.


Mekhala has a history of lower back injury. She has been using Yoga to assist her in recovering and strengthening of her back and core muscles. She is eager to share the knowledge she has gained over the years with more people. Mekhala has been attending a couple of counselling and psychotherapy workshop lately. She believes the fusion of Yoga and Psychology is extremely beneficial in understanding our body inside out.
