Description

Experience a 12-course (plus) banquet to mark Onam, the 10-day harvest festival celebrated from August to September in Kerala. This unique degustation lunch is curated and cooked by NOSHtrekker's own Masala Mistress, and will feature cuisine from the South India state. Be prepared to indulge in an entirely homemade and designed feast bar none.

Some dishes served during an Onam Sadhya are Parippu (curry lentils with rice and papadum), Injipuli (sweet pickle of ginger, tamarind, green chillies and jaggery) and Pachadi (a sweet gravy masala made with pineapple and pumpkin).

The final menu will consist of traditional recipes and contemporary interpretations, and include both vegetarian and non-vegetarian fare. The only requirements to enjoy this lunch are clean fingers for bare-hand eating and a willing appetite.

Dhershini is best known as the creator of dishes influenced by the food culture diaspora of Singapore. Her creations are uniquely imaginative, yet they retain their distinctly Indian flavours. A cookbook author, former restaurateur and culinary ambassador for the Singapore Tourism Board, she has brought excitement and dynamism to the culinary scene through participating in numerous national and international food showcase events.

About ONAM

Onam is an ancient Hindu festival celebrated in Kerala, India, that marks the rice harvest.

Beginning on August 25 and ending on September 6, the festival comprises of numerous events, including boat races, tiger dances, beautiful flower arrangement, and lots of music, costumes and dancing. Storytelling abounds with re-enactments of Hindu folk legends and mythology.

A Sadhya (feast) is a feature of the Onam festival. The dishes served during this traditional banana leaf lunch varies and the number of dishes served can extend anywhere from 10 to 26 items.
