Jaga-Me and Lien Centre for Palliative Care are organising a Palliative Care Course for Community Nurses for you, our JagaPro nurses.

About this Event

Deepen know your knowledge and skills on palliative care, pain management, and communication for end-of-life in this workshop by Lien Centre for Palliative Care and Jaga-Me. You will access mini-presentations, assessments and video clips via a web-based learning management system. The online self-study will be supplemented with an interactive face-to-face session, on 13 November 2018. At the end of the course, you will receive a Certificate of Completion and be confident to handle palliative cases.

Exclusive Course Fee for JagaPros* (with 50% training sponsorship from Jaga-Me, SkillsFuture subsidy and commitment of 80 hours of care services)

  • $75 for JagaPros below 40 years old
  • $25 for JagaPros above 40 years old

JagaPros who are not able to commit to 80 hours of care services, can opt to pay for the unsponsored fees ($150 for JagaPros below 40 years old; $50 for JagaPros above 40 years old)

Course Requirements:

  • Certified as JagaPros with valid Singapore Nursing Board License
  • REGISTERED Nurse with at least 2 years of experience in any of the areas/settings: Gerontology, Hospice, Intensive Care Unit
  • Committed to deliver 80 hours of care services within 2 months (~10hrs/week), after completion of course (to be eligible for training sponsorship)

Trainers Bio:

Dr. Alethea Yee is the Head and Senior Consultant at the Department of Palliative Medicine, National Cancer Center Singapore (NCCS). After obtaining her basic medical degree at NUS and practising in various local hospitals for several years, she went to UK for postgraduate training in Internal Medicine, followed by subspecialty training in Palliative Medicine. In 2006, she returned to join NCCS to help run the palliative care service, which has since expanded significantly to include service, research and education arms.

Dr Peh Tan Ying is a Consultant in the Division of Palliative Medicine, National Cancer Centre SIngapore. She received her medical degree from Monash University, Australia, and subsequently completed her Advanced Specialist Training in Palliative Medicine in Singapore. Dr Peh has a keen interest in the education and training of healthcare professionals, including junior doctors, nurses, allied health professionals and medical undergraduates. In addition to the training of residents and medical students, she is involved in multiple training programmes such as the NUS Graduate Diploma in Palliative Medicine, LCPC-SHC Postgraduate Course in Palliative Medicine and Ngee Ann Specialist Diploma in Palliative Care Nursing.

Course Provider:

The Lien Centre for Palliative Care (LCPC) was established in December 2008 as an academic Centre within Duke-NUS, in collaboration with the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS) and the Singapore Health Services Group (SingHealth). LCPC’s education mission is to deliver high quality palliative care education for healthcare professionals at the generalist level to meet the growing palliative care service needs locally and regionally.

*The prices shown above are only available to JagaPros who meet the course requirements stated. Jaga-Me reserves the rights to claim the full original course fee of $500 from participants, should they:

(i) Withdraw after 17 October 2018;

(ii) Fail any course assessment;

(iii) Absent from workshop without valid reasons or MC or

(iv) Fail to complete 80 hours of care services within 2 months

if they have opt for the commitment options
