Event description

Description

For more than two thousand years, Buddhists have been exposed using three connected lifetimes (past, present, and future) to interpret 12 Causal Links. However, in the last century some researchers and Buddhist monks were doubtful about such interpretation, and believed that the 12 Causal Links could be interpreted using here and now (the present). A Buddhist will be able to practice according to Buddha’s teaching when he/she understands both interpretations.

This 8-session discourse is conducted by Bhikkhu Mokkhadipa. Venerable Bhikkhu Mokkhadipa, as a monastic of the Sambodhi World Sangha, had assisted in preaching the Original Buddhism widely: in America, China, Taiwan, Australia, Malaysia and Singapore.

Prior to entering the monastic order, the Venerable had obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in Operational Research in the United Kingdom, in 1983. He next worked in both the public and private sectors in Singapore.

He retired in year 2000 when he was 44 years old so that he could devote himself to learn Buddhism on full-time basis.

On 27th July 2008, he went to Sydney Australia to be ordained as a Novice under Master Bhikkhu Buddha Dhatu. He followed the Master to spread Buddhism in Australia, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia, England, Malaysia, and Singapore.

When he attended a meditation retreat conducted by Master Bhikkhu Vupasama in Singapore, in December 2011, Venerable was very deeply moved by his teachings on Original Buddhism.

On 20th January 2012, he went to Taiwan to follow Master Bhikkhu Vūpasama to learn Original Buddhism, and subsequently had his Higher Ordination at Mahamevnawa Buddhist Monastery in Sri Lanka on 23rd February 2012.

He had also delivered the following Buddhism Courses in Mandarin:

  1. The Stages of the Kindred Path to Enlightenment
  2. A Research on the Original Teaching of the Śākyamuni Buddha
  3. Elimination of suffering by Insight Meditation
  4. The relationship between the Teaching of the Śākyamuni Buddha and the Amitābha school
