Description

Introducing: EKAklema

As an extension of Teater Ekamatra’s commitment to engaging the community in diverse ways, we are excited to introduce EKAklema.

The ekkyklema was a moving platform used in classical Greek theatre to indicate changes in scene or reveal dramatic turning points in a plot. We provide EKAklema as a platform for participants, from practitioners and everyday individuals, to experience turning moments in their personal growth and transformation through the ubiquity of theatre and performance methodologies.

Participants can look forward to an eclectic selection of physical strengthening masterclasses by a traditional Indian dancer, public speaking workshops for children by a seasoned performer, and even talks on global trends by invited academics. EKAklema is a response to the need for continued training among theatre practitioners, as well as the desire for the everyday individual to spur personal enrichment through novel encounters. We designed EKAklema to be a flexible platform with only one governing principle: growth spurred by theatre.

Ruby is a movement artist trained in Eastern dance and drama. To increase strength, agility, and endurance, Ruby focuses on mindful body movement. Specifically, the control and attentiveness of different body parts and effective breathing. Her training methods will include floor stretches, balance exercises, yoga postures, breathing techniques, and more.
