Description

Learn the deep basics of physical theatre acting using inside-out and outside-in methodologies. In this intensive workshop, participants delve into Soti’s practice incorporating the qualities of Direction, Intensification, Visualisation, and Application through literal and symbolic movements.

Armed with this physical theatre philosophy, you will become a more authentic and believable actor and character.

Workshop Objectives:
For participants to
1. understand the mechanics of the body and breath in physical movements to establish belief and believability
2. integrate the principles of the DIVA (direction, intensification, visualisation, application) methodology for authentic audience engagement
3. improvise, perform, and critique improvised scenes

Target Audience:
Actors (both professional and freelance) who seek to expand the acting repertoire through physical theatre

Requirements:
1. Please be relatively fit and agile to engage in physical exercises and floorwork
2. No makeup, no jewellery and accessories to be worn
3. Bring your own bottle of water, towel, and change of (dry) clothes
4. Wear only light clothes to facilitate ease of movement

Photography and Videography Work:
All participants will need to sign a photography and videography release form as the session will be recorded for both research documentation and marketing purposes.

ABOUT THE MASTER ACTING TRAINER:

Soti Ramapati Dwivid (or Soti, for short) is an accomplished actor, director, educator and acting/movement coach from Tilhar, Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India.

After receiving his Masters in Theatre Arts from the University of Hyderabad and a Master of Arts in Hindi from M.J.P. Rohilkhand University, Bareilly, India, he established a theatre company in India (M.L. Ramanad Theatre Foundation) with a focus to improve the lives of the community through its work.

He is also a graduate from the Intercultural Theatre Institute (Singapore) with Professional Diploma in Theatre Acting.

Soti has worked with reputed and distinguished teachers including Aarne Neeme, Professor B. Ananthakrishnan, Phillip Zarrilli, Professor Ramgopal Bajaj, Professor S. Ramanujam, Marc Weinblatt, and Bert van Dijk.

He has acted in plays helmed by some of India's and world's most luminary directors, including Aarne Neeme, Guillermo Angelelli, Mohan Maharishi, Abhilash Pillai, and Noushad Mohammed Kunju.

Some of his stage acting credits include:
