Description
PowerShell Saturday is a full day event focusing on Windows PowerShell. Run by the Singapore PowerShell User Group (affiliated with PowerShell.Org) we have a morning of speaker presentations with an afternoon of Hands-On labs to help you learn PowerShell. Please note the slightly later start time for this session.
Sessions for this event include:
- 9:30-10:00am - Opening and Community Update - Matt Hitchcock (PowerShell MVP)
- A round up of community news and introduction to the day
- 10:00-10:45am - Writing Clean Code - Benjamin Hodge
- [Abstract Pending]
- 10:45-11:30am - Supercharging the PowerShell ISE with Add-Ons - Matt Hitchcock (PowerShell MVP)
- The PowerShell ISE has been a basic tool overshadowed by many commercial and free PowerShell Editors. PowerShell v3.0 made the ISE very extensible and since then, developers and MVP's have created different add-ons to enhance the capability you get out of the box. In this session we will look at different Add-Ons that are now available and see why the ISE is a contender for being the only PowerShell Editor you really need
- 11:30-12:30pm - 7 days with DSC - Peter Eg
- Desired State Configuration is something new to most IT Pro's, including seasoned consultants like Avanade's Peter Eg. In this session, Peter will share his experiences of testing DSC over 7 days and will talk about how he got started, how he approached it and the progress he was able to make in a short time
- 12:30-13:15pm - Lunch
- Lunch will be provided
- 13:15-15:30pm - Hands On Lab - All
- In the last few months we have had MVP's Adam Driscoll and Jim Christopher present sessions on Unit Testing and Source Control (available at www.poshbreakfast.com). This hands on lab will focus on these subjects and give you an opportunity to get hands on with some experienced guidance
- 15:30-16:00pm - Closing & Prize giving
(Please note that schedule changes may occur but details will be posted here. All timings are approximate, actual times may slightly vary)
As always, it is very important to bring your own laptop as the afternoon is hands-on. Machines will not be provided and you will not gain the full benefit of the sessions if you're not taking part in the hands on exercises. You should have PowerShell 3.0 or higher installed on your machine.
