Principles of Code 3 - Weekly Coding Course for Ages 12 & up
The burgeoning phenomenon known as the Internet of Things (IoT) loosely refers to the network of connected mechanical devices, appliances and machines - each enhanced by their autonomous gathering, transmission and use of data over the internet. The meteoric rise of companies like Amazon, Tesla, Fitbit and Huawei that provide the hardware or the cloud computing infrastructure upon which the technology flourishes are a clear indication of the immense opportunity that this growing field represents.
At its core, learning about IoT can be boiled down to three things: understanding and programming hardware, managing and deploying computing resources in the cloud, and learning how to connect them to create a network of devices running smart applications. Code Campers will first learn to use Python to program a variety of physical sensors connected to a Raspberry Pi - a powerful credit card sized computer that retails for less than SGD60.00. Next, they will learn the rudiments of network programming in Python and how to set up their own cloud computing resources and servers using services like Heroku. The class will then conclude with Code Campers building their very own web-accessible home surveillance system.
Lesson will be conducted every Sundy, 12 Nov to 15 Jan (no class on 27 Nov, 25 Dec and 1 Jan), from 4 pm to 6 pm, on our Campus at #03-04 Parkway Centre.
