In the final forum in the Public Conversations series, the Singapore Heritage Society (SHS)'s fourth president, Dahlia Shamsuddin, will share not only her work in SHS but also in other heritage projects such as Singapura Stories, and her experiences with heritage projects in Malaysia and Indonesia. The chair of the forum series Dr Chua Ai Lin, SHS’s fifth president and current vice president, will further provide a brief overview on the heritage landscape in Singapore and a summation of the Public Conversations series. Cai Yunci (University College, London) will offer a response based on her research on community-based indigenous cultural villages in Malaysia, and Kelvin Ang (URA) will conclude on the collaboration between SHS, SMU-SOSS and URA as outreach to further heritage discussions in Singapore.

ABOUT DAHLIA SHAMSUDDIN
Dahlia Shamsuddin joined the Singapore Heritage Society (SHS) in the mid-1990s and has assisted and participated in SHS events since then. In 2005 she was co-opted into the SHS executive committee (Exco) by then SHS President, Dr Kevin Tan, and served until 2013. As a member of the Exco she planned and organised several seminars, local and overseas tours for SHS. Dahlia is a librarian when she is not busy with heritage activities.

ABOUT THE PUBLIC CONVERSATIONS SERIES

The Public Conversations series comprises four public forums held in March, June, August and October. Jointly organised by the Singapore Heritage Society and the Singapore Management University School of Social Sciences, each forum will feature a former president of the Singapore Heritage Society as keynote speaker, including Dr William Lim (founding president), Prof Kwok Kian-Woon, Dr Kevin Tan and Ms Dahlia Shamsuddin. The series is organised as part of the 30th anniversary of the Singapore Heritage Society and the 10th anniversary of the SMU School of Social Sciences, with support from the Urban Redevelopment Authority.
