About the Artist

Hailing from Malaysia, Yean Ching is currently residing in Singapore, working in a special needs school for children. With arts as the medium for communication and integration, she understands her students better, especially those affected by autism, learning disabilities and attention deficit disorders.

Ever since she was young, Yean Ching has showed an interest in drawing and would enjoy learning by herself how to sketch and draw in unconventional ways. As her delicate little hands holding the paintbrush roved over the palette, her love to paint with watercolours took root and blossomed. She soon started exploring into the works of other prominent artists and found herself intrigued in the way this watercolour medium could convey such fluidity and powerful emotions. This revelation sparked the motivation within Yean Ching to take her love for watercolour painting to the next level: desire to impart the skills and knowledge of her love for watercolour painting with students and community. She revels in sharing, teaching and even learning from students who want to learn!

Yean Ching has always believed that art should serve as a medium to awaken joy in creative expression and to ignite one's passion as well as to share it. She believes that by infusing one's style and identity into their work, they could improve one's physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
