Overview

A parent-child activity helping children externalise worries and learn healthy coping habits

Mindful Juniors presents: Build a Worry Monster & a Personal Calm Kit 🦖

Objective: Helping children externalise worries and learn healthy coping habits 🌈

Children in this age range are starting to experience more complex thoughts and emotions about school, friendships, or things they can’t control. Sometimes, these worries can feel big and hard to put into words.

This activity helps your child:

🦖Recognise and name their worries

🦖Externalise those worries by giving them to a “monster” that can hold them safely

🦖Develop their own step-by-step plan for calming down when anxious or overwhelmed

By turning worries into something they can see, touch, and “feed” away, children learn that feelings can be managed, not feared.

This toolkit builds emotional regulation, self-awareness, and problem-solving — core social-emotional skills that help children grow into confident, resilient individuals.
