Description

BIM implementation: What’s next for the industry?

Overview:

Building Information Modelling (BIM) is identified as a key technology to improve productivity and level of integration across the entire construction value chain. It continues to offer opportunities to drive a more effective and efficient construction projects. More emerging markets in Asia are aware that BIM implementation is critical in achieving the 60% growth in infrastructure projects expected by 2025.

Asia has been fostering the BIM implementation through the development of BIM roadmap. In ASEAN, Singapore is considered to have effectively implemented BIM and Malaysia is increasingly fostered the implementation to support the Construction Industry Transformation Plan (CITP) 2020. A minimum of 40% implementation rate of BIM for public projects above RM 100 million is recommended by CITP.

Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) invested RM 1.5 million on BIM awareness programme. The government has also increased the 2018 budget on technical and vocational education and training of RM 4.9
billion. This is to increase the number of local skilled and productivity in construction projects.

RICS BIM Conference 2018 will look at the national guide, roadmap and international standards of BIM implementation. It will cover the key factors, challenges and obligations of project stakeholders in implementing BIM throughout the construction lifecycle.

Topics covered include digitalisation in BIM application, BIM implementation for Quantity Surveyors successful factors and challenges of BIM implementation in the construction lifecycle, and skillsets of the construction
profession. It will also showcase the current project implementing BIM in Malaysia and successful BIM projects in ASEAN countries.

A great networking and knowledge sharing forum that you should not miss. Book today to secure your seat.

Highlights:

  • Gain valuable insights into Malaysia’s BIM national guide and road map from the Ministry of Work.

  • MRTC latest showcase of BIM level 2 implementation in Malaysia's infrastructure project.
