ASEAN continues to improve the connectivity of their infrastructure construction plans and form an infrastructure network as part of ongoing efforts in “One Belt One Road” Initiatives, despite the large unfunded infrastructure needs.

Vietnam’s infrastructure construction industry continues to expand at a strong pace over the forecast period (2017–2021) reflecting higher investments in infrastructure projects, especially in critical projects in the transport, energy,telecommunication and water sectors.

According to Timetric’s Infrastructure Intelligence Center (IIC), the infrastructure construction market’s value is projected to reach US$572.2 billion by 2021, in nominal value terms. With the GDP growing at 6.81% in 2017 where construction contributed at 33.34%, Foreign Direct Investment figure reaching at US$35.6 billion in 2017 grew by 44.4% compared with 2016. Construction sector grew the fastest at 8% and continue to be the most attractive sector for investors in 2018.

Vietnam has also becoming the region’s hottest property market which contributed to its economy growth. Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have seen real estate sector transactions reach a total volume of more than US$ 2 billion in the last two years. CBRE Real Capital Analytic studied that transaction value in residential projects increased from 6% in 2016 to 39% in 2017.
