About this event

SPA is being conducted at Kranji Coastal Nature Park within the Sungei Buloh Wetlands Reserve. This will include removing competing vegetation, topping up soil and/or leaf litter around the stem base, installing stakes to help the newly-planted saplings stand straight while they strengthens their trunks, and replacing tree labels, where necessary.

We will be working under prevailing COVID-19 safe management measures to keep everyone safe, responsibly.

This event is kid-friendly with adult supervision; i.e. (children below 12 years old are welcome, but must come with adult(s).

The steps to SPA include:

  1. Scraping grass back from the sapling
  2. Hand-weeding persistent grass sprouts at the base
  3. Cutting off and clearing any creepers on the sapling
  4. Topping up leaf litter and/or approved soil mixture (ASM) around the base of the sapling
  5. Helping to stake newly-planted saplings to give them temporary support whilst they strengthen their trunks
  6. Replace old, broken or lost tree identification tags

Important points to note:

  • Participants MUST wear covered shoes; without this, you will not be able to participate.
  • We recommend you wear long pants to work in the area (there are scratchy plants in the area)
