"Strengthening Our Emotional Resilience Beyond Covid-19": Practitioners sharing from the mental health and caregiver perspectives.

About this Event

How has the current Covid-19 affected you and your loved ones emotionally over the past year?

Do you know emotional resilience is a trait we can develop?

What are some of the common signs to look out for in people who are stressed or depressed and how can we support them?

In collaboration with the Caregivers Alliance Limited and Fei Yue Community Services, the SSA Women and Young Women Division will be organising an online lecture on 13 March 2021, titled, "Strengthening Our Emotional Resilience Beyond Covid-19" with practitioners sharing from the mental health and caregiver perspectives on how we can understand and strengthen our emotional resilience amid and beyond the pandemic.

Lecture will be conducted in English wIth Chinese translation. All are welcome.

Ms Fung Wing Yu

Fei Yue Community Mental Health Department

Fung Wing Yu is a CREST caseworker under Fei Yue Community Mental Health Department. She is experienced in handling clients with mental health conditions such as dementia and depression. With the passion to increase public awareness on mental health topics, she is currently involved in creating infographics, informational videos and giving talks on mental health related topics.

Fei Yue Community Mental Health Department

Mek Enoch holds a Bachelor’s degree majoring in Psychology. He is currently working in Fei Yue Community Services leading the CREST @ Bukit Panjang Team which focuses on working with people with mental health conditions, as well as their caregivers. Apart from providing emotional support and basic counselling to people with mental health conditions, he also conducts public talks to create awareness on mental health issues and well-being to the residents in Bukit Panjang & Zheng Hua area. He is also involved in training volunteers as well as running workshops in the area of mental health related knowledge and communication skillsets. Since the pandemic, Enoch has joined the National Care Hotline team as a Duty Care Officer (DCO) to provide emotional support to callers nationwide who have been emotionally and psychologically affected by the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Ms Evelyn Chng

Team Lead & Program Manager, Caregivers Alliance Limited

Evelyn has been with Caregivers Alliance Limited (CAL) since 2016. Currently the team lead and program manager of Caregivers Support Centre at the Institute of Mental Health, Evelyn collaborates with the hospital medical team to provide emotional support to caregivers.

Evelyn also conducts the CAL signature Caregivers-to-caregivers (C2C) program, where she trains caregivers who look after people with mental health issues. This helps the caregivers to be better equipped with self-awareness of their emotional challenges, thereby facilitating emotional healing, positive attitudinal change and building resilience. Besides facilitating the C2C Dementia training, Evelyn also holds talks, engages in advocacy activities and outreach to raise public awareness about mental health.

Evelyn holds a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, and Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling & Psychology. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Applied Gerontology at Nanyang Technological University.
