About this event

In a world of speedy advancements and sophistication in technology, human qualities like empathy, kindness and gratitude stand out. Nurturing such qualities helps towards forging stronger relationships and building a more caring, harmonious world.

Spotlight on the Blind is an interactive, fully online programme designed to develop empathy and foster inclusion. Through engaging videos, activities, and dialogue, all led by vision impaired facilitators, this unique programme provides insights into the lives of the blind and debunks stereotypes.

Target Audience

  1. Professionals who need to interact or work with persons with disabilities at their workplace or implement workplace inclusion practices.
  2. Educators, HR practitioners, and leaders who need to implement and train staff in workplace inclusion practices.
  3. Anyone who wants to develop empathy for the blind, so as to apply it in their daily lives.

Learning Outcomes

Participants will be:

  1. More aware of and empathetic to the challenges the blind community faces in Singapore.
  2. Inspired by the accomplishments and resilience of people who are blind.
  3. Encouraged to think about what they can do to be more inclusive.

Please note that this course will be conducted online via Zoom. An email with instructions such as items to have on hand for the session (eg blindfolds and mobile phones) will be sent at least 2 days before the event.

Dialogue in the Dark Singapore (DiDsg), is a unique teaching and learning facility in Ngee Ann Polytechnic that aims to foster empathy and inclusion. DiDsg’s various programmes, targeted mainly at schools, workplaces and other organisations, enable visitors to experience everyday life in the shoes of the blind and are conducted by DiDsg's vision impaired staff.
