There is a good reason horror stories are so popular, with adults and children alike. Like all good stories, horror-lores help us escape to another world with hearts pounding and blood rushes.

About the Speaker(s)

Suffian Hakim | Screenwriter & Author

Suffian Hakim is author of Harris bin Potter and the Stoned Philosopher, The Minorities and The Keepers of Stories, originally self-published and then re-released in new revised editions by Epigram Books. Suffian is currently a writer at Big 3 Media. He was previously a regional content lead at media agency GroupM and has written for television shows such as Random Island and The Noose, and publications Esquire (Singapore) and August Man.

Tunku Halim | Lawyer & Author

Tunku Halim has been dubbed as Asia’s Stephen King, a prolific horror author since 1997. His latest collection of short stories, Scream to the Shadows, was a Penguin Random House bestseller. His latest novel, A Malaysian Restaurant in London, is being been translated into Malay. His novel, Vermillion Eye, was a study text at the National University of Singapore

His Midnight Children trilogy for children aged 8-13 was published in 2021. The first book, A Vanishing, is followed by Cemetery House and The Moonlight World. His non-fiction books include A Children’s History of Malaysia, History of Malaysia – A Children’s Encyclopaedia (2013) and a biography of his late father, A Prince Called “Charlie”.

About Storytelling Today

Storytelling is an inseparable part of human history. From cave painting in prehistoric dwellings to modern-day entertainment, such as books and plays, humans use stories to convey information to each other and connect communities. Authors and professional storytellers will share their crafts this February.
