Description

Highlights:
What does it take to transform an entrenched culture stubborn in its ways? How can the message of sustainability be communicated such that it’s less a bitter pill to swallow, and imbued with positivity instead? What is the role of non-profit organizations in bridging the gap between state and society? How can we encourage social change in new ways when the green movement has already become tired and passé? If you’re a curious individual who wants to take action in Singapore, or just want to better understand the complexity of the global waste issue, find out the answers to these questions and more with us! Don’t be afraid to come armed with burning questions! :)

About the speakers:
Hai Lin is the manager of Zero Waste Singapore, a non-profit organization looking to accelerate Singapore’s shift towards becoming a Zero Waste Nation. Interested in environmental issues since university days, she has since been keen to do more to increase public awareness of the need to conserve and maximize the use of Earth’s limited resources. She hopes to empower people to take action on waste management in their daily lives. Jess is an NUS Geography alumnus interested in the detrimental impact of plastic on the environment and human livelihoods. She strives to raise awareness on plastic disposables and improve Singapore’s waste management system in the near future.
