About the programme
Before CGI took over visual effects, strange new worlds and galaxies far far away were visited with the aid of miniatures. Most of these were scratch built from plastic, metal and wood, in addition to ‘kit bashing’, the process of using model kit parts to create new shapes and uses.
Join Lee Stringer in this talk on Studio Scale Models, exploring how Star Wars’ Millenium Falcon was made from Car Engines and Panzer Tanks, and how hobbyist model makes now recreate the miniature from Film & TV. Anyone with an interest in film/TV miniatures is welcome.
About the instructor
Lee Stringer is a Visual Effects Supervisor who grew up watching models and miniatures take him to other worlds! He has worked around the globe on projects from Star Wars & Star Trek to Battlestar Galactica & LEGO. Originally from the UK where he first built Airfix models at age 6, Lee now resides in Singapore where he still builds models, both real and digitally.
