"Do Buddhists Need To Meditate?"  by Venerable U Mahinda

Time: 7.30pm to 9pm

Venue: BF East

Synopsis:  The speaker will expound on the benefits and necessity of meditation in the Buddhist practice. Bhante will also briefly discuss the need to learn the Abhidhamma the 3rd basket of the Pali Tipiṭaka. After which, the audience will be invited to pose related questions.

Biodata of Ven U Mahinda

Born in 1971, Venerable U Mahinda who hails from China graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts in 1994. He was ordained in 2002 at the Pa-Auk Forest Monastery in Myanmar and practised Samatha & Vipassanā meditation under the instructions of his preceptor Venerable Pa-Auk Sayadaw. Since 2008, Venerable Mahinda has been the Religious Teacher of Pa-Auk Meditation Centre, Singapore. In addition to Myanmar and Singapore, he frequently gives Dhamma talks and meditation retreats in Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan and China. He also authored and translated many Dhamma books in Mandarin.

Recognising the need to start Dhamma education from young, Buddhist Fellowship has three programs to cater from pre-school to 25 years. The programs are led by Exco members and volunteers.
