Description
Telling Through Translation
Our marvelous contemporary world allows us to travel the globe telling stories. It brings friends who speak many languages to our own hometowns. We need not hesitate to share our stories with audiences who do not speak our language. But we do need 2 things: a bilingual friend who will translate for us ... and a technique for facilitating translation
In this workshop for experienced storytellers, Margaret Read MacDonald will expand on her handbook Tell the World: Storytelling Across LanguageBarriers to teach techniques for sharing a story via a translator. She will demonstrate the techniques and facilitate the participants in practising the techniques.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS WORKSHOP IS FOR STORYTELLERS WITH SOME EXPERIENCE. For a beginners workshop by Dr Margaret Read Macdonald please see Playing With Stories which will be held from 2pm to 5.30pm on the same day, at the same venue.
