Event description

Description

The Downtown Amazing Race in which teams of four people race around the Downtown Business District in competition with other teams. Contestants travel to and within different locations, each "Pit Stop" is created to challenge anyone at any fitness level. These challenges are related in some manner to the National Steps Challenge, Moderate to Vigorous Physical Activities and Healthier Food Choices.

All teams of the waves will be required to complete the first challenge at "Pit Stop #1, Slashing Streakers" before the teams head to the next destination or direct them to perform a task, either together or by a single member. Contestants strive to complete tasks, return to the "Finishing Point" and the top 3 teams that arrives with the fastest time is awarded the grand prize.


Slashing Streakers (Pit Stop #1)

Teams need to complete an 800-meter challenge walk to the Red Dot Museum and back to the starting point. ext, the contestants are required to attempt a 2-3 multiple choices questions before moving on to their next "Pit Stops".

Pyramid Workout (Pit Stop #2)

The pyramid is an exercise based workout where body-weight exercises are performed on a reducing scale, the teams will need to work out how many each repetition are allocated per person to try and finish in the shortest possible time.

Animal Flow (Pit Stop #3)

This activity will consist of teams having to select 2 cards from a pile that demonstrate an Animal Flow move - such as 'Bear Crawl', Side travelling Ape', 'Crab Walk' and instructions on how to complete the various exercises relating to the animal on the back of the card.



High Striker/Balloon Waddle (Pit Stop #4)

High Striker Challenge - The objective is for the team to score 5 goals within the time limit. Contestants need to score goals by backheel only.

Balloon Waddle - Without using their hands, team members have to pass along 5 balloons from start to finishing line.

Choose Less, Not More (Pit Stop #5)

The Less Challenge - Guess all local drinks correctly within the time limit.

The Calories Challenge - Arrange calories level (lowest to highest).


Shuttle Race Relay (Pit Stop #6)

The shuttle race is where teams have to use resistance bands and in pairs, one person has the band around their waist and keeps tension on the band whilst the other attempts to run forward with high knees to the first station. At this station, they complete a designated exercise each and swap over to get to the next station.

Results of the race will be announced on 15th February 2019. Winners will be notified via email.
