Talk: Music & Arts In Caregiving (English)
Join us to understand more about Dementia and Music, choosing the right type of music and art activity for the person you are caring for and the training needed to administer music and art therapy.
Discover how music and art therapy actually works and how it improves cognitive abilities and speech, how it can help to build rapport between a caregiver and the care recipient and the benefits it can bring to a caregiver.
About the speaker:
Kumari Neeran Rai; Nurse Manager, Caregiver Asia Pte Ltd
Ms. Rai is a Nurse Manager who works with CaregiverAsia Pte. Ltd. to regulate their internal home care protocols and develop training modules for both licensed (Nurses) and non-licensed (Foreign Domestic Workers, family members) caregivers.
Apart from the above responsibilities, Ms. Rai also conducts assessments for complex cases in the home setting and derives detailed and personalised care plans for her team to execute.
Ms Rai holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing from Edinburgh Napier University, UK.
Having had over 10 years of experience in nursing, she has mainly worked as a registered nurse in the Intensive Care Units of our restructured hospitals for a total of 7 years before setting foot in the community and home care setting.
She believes that everyone prefers being in their own homes during their senior years, as a home is a place of memories, loved ones and familiarity. Hence, she strongly advocates for home care if the senior’s condition permits.
