Football Makes Everything Better!

Mr. Anandhan Tarmalingam played football on a regular basis. He currently serves as the Chairman of Thursday Knight Football Club where young and veteran players play regularly at the Singapore Indian Association. Professionally, Mr. Anand is in the Insurance Industry and is a Senior Manager with Manulife (S) Pte. Ltd. He was born to humble parents and together with his siblings they make a close-knit family. His wife of 30 years is his pillar of strength and support. He has a son.

Mr. Anand will talk about how football has affected his life positively and how his passion for the game has made him rise to the position of Chairman of the local football Club, Thursday Knight Football.

RUN- “Pain is Temporary, Pride is Forever”

Ms. Maheshwari Thiagaraya started running when she was in Primary and Secondary School. She has won many Track & Field competitions during her school days. She was awarded the title, Sportswomen of the Year at First Toa Payoh when she was 15 years old. She was also the Vice-Captain of her house for 2 consecutive years. On top of that she broke her school’s record for 400metres & Cross-Country Race.

After a long break she started running again when she was 36 years old. Since then she has taken part in the annual Standard Chartered Marathons and Sundown Marathons. She has also run in lifestyle runs like the Great Eastern Women’s Runs and Shape Runs. And has took part in charity runs like the Cancer Runs, 2XU Runs and Yellow Ribbon Runs. She lives with her husband, three beautiful children and her pet Husky. She is self-employed.

Ms. Mahes will talk about how her running has taught her that she is capable of so much more than she has imagined. It has changed her life positively. Her passion in running has also inspired others to take up the sports.

“Happiness is a choice you make,” says the title of a book by award-winning journalist John Leland. In the same spirit, the 5x10x15 programme brings together different seniors who will each share with you what brings joy and purpose to their lives.

Over 5 sessions in the month of October, this programme will feature 10 seniors, each sharing 15 minutes about what brings them joy and gives them purpose in their lives.
