Thursday Morning Meditation Course: Understanding The Mind
Event Information
About this Event
Happiness and suffering are feelings – parts of our mind – and so their main causes are not to be found outside the mind. If we really want to be truly happy and free from suffering we must improve our understanding of the mind." - Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, How to Understand the Mind
In this series of classes, we will explore Buddhist insights into the nature and function of the mind and gain practical meditative experience on the conventional nature of the mind. This understanding will naturally help us to be able to meditate more deeply, subdue distraction, deepen our concentration and to develop a peace and clarity that we can carry with us into our daily lives.
Also by improving our understanding of the mind, we will be able to gain insight into profound Buddhist subjects such as the existence of past and future lives, and emptiness - the ultimate nature of reality. These understandings greatly empower our deeper practices of Buddhist meditation such as universal love and compassion, Mahamudra, and Highest Yoga Tantra.
