Event description

Description

British storyteller Craig Jenkins invites you to join Story Sanctuary: Tools and Techniques for Using Storytelling with Vulnerable Groups.

Through a mix of personal and professional reflections, the workshop will enable participants to create their own unique storytelling toolkit – full of games, exercises and stories that can be directly applied to their own practice. The workshop will provide practical methods of adapting stories to meet the needs of specific groups. It will focus on the ways in which we ensure that the storytelling is delivered in a safe, sensitive and professional way and will provide the skills needed to ensure that the stories we tell are made more inclusive and relatable to diverse audiences.

The workshop will offer a unique opportunity to explore why it is so important to share and create stories with vulnerable groups and allow participants to acquire the necessary skills to be able to do so within their own practice. Please note that Story Sanctuary is not counselling or therapy training. The workshop is focused on storytelling practice.

Craig has over ten years’ experience of performing stories and running workshops for vulnerable groups across the globe. He has worked in schools, theatres, hospitals, refugee centres, pupil referral units, slums and rural villages in India. Craig has been a featured teller at storytelling festivals in the UK, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and the United States of America.
