Event description

Description

Environment and Water Resources Minister Masagos Zulkifli has announced 2018 as the Year of Climate Action in Singapore during COP23.

Can action starting from 2018 bring us to 2030?

Land redevelopment, a difficult task in itself, is now made even more complex due to climate change. We are forced to consider our land development more carefully than ever before, because the stakes are much higher this time around.

And you have the chance to be part of it.

Through an engaging game simulation, you will be playing the role of ministry officers, with the chance to work alongside others to redevelop Singapore for the future.

Our land-use simulation game aims to explore the decision making process when it comes to urban planning and redevelopment in Singapore. While this game is by no means an exact representation of the actual process, it will help us understand what it takes to balance priorities in a country that wants to do so much with so little. Participants will step into the shoes of policy makers, and build a Singapore that they envision. Re-designed to focus specifically on the issue of climate change, participants will get to explore the relationship between economic and population growth as well as climate change, and how urbanisation mediates it, and can make the difference as to whether the former are risks, or opportunities for climate change.

Other than the engaging game-play, we have also invited speakers from the People, Public and Private Sector to discuss what can be done to combat climate change. Details of speakers will be released closer to the event.
