Event description

Description

poster @ MastereignComputer automation is increasingly complimenting human in fulfilling societal functions. Take the example of shopping; what used to be two human interacting in person has been facilitated by usage of technology. At the moment, there are a lot of users of technology, but few who understood how it works. Empowering the young to master the creation rather than consumption of technology is a must. One way to start this effort is to expose the young in computer programming and using micro-controllers.

Students will be taught on computational thinking, to set a great foundational mindset before downloading the technical knowledge. The technical portion will be anchored around daily phenomena encountered by students, thus increasing the chance of understanding and faster internalization of concept. Block-based programming is beginner-friendly and a good first-step to consolidating students’ thinking to be more attuned to more complex programming.

The programme will be conducted on: 19th to 21st June 2017

The full syllabus are as follow, will be covered across 3 days progressively:

  1. Computational thinking: the basic

  2. Exploration: light and sound

  3. Understanding text and numbers in variables

  4. Simplified conditionals and how it governs the world

  5. Unlocking the world of wireless communication
