WWF's Earth Hour, NUS Entrepreneurship Centre & UP Singapore bring you the "Reducing Our Environmental Impact" Hackathon - 25th-27th Jan 2013 @ NUS U-Town.

The environment hackathon will bring together a broad spectrum of scientists, architects, sustainability experts, economists, government researchers, policy makers, design thinkers, developers, programmers, and creatives who want to create real ways to help people better protect our environment.

This hackathon is supported by WWF, National Environment Agency, Infocomm Development Authority and Economic Development Board.

The best prototype in the "I Will If You Will" challenge will be incubated by the SAP Next Business & Technology Research Centre, with the opportunity to become the global flagship app for Earth Hour 2013.

The central themes are:

I WILL IF YOU WILL – Solutions to drive behavioural change and quantify the impact of individual actions, with the potential to be adopted as Earth Hour’s flagship application.

SMART CHOICES – Test out the latest technology to help individuals and businesses optimise energy usage and reduce their environmental impact.

CITY SOLUTIONS – Tackle environmental challenges with creative solutions that help Singapore to become ‘A City in a Garden’.

HACKATHON SCHEDULE

Friday Night 6:30pm-9:00pm: Event kick off

• 6:30pm: Registration, Dinner Buffet
• 7:15pm: Speakers discuss issues & potential solutions
• 8:15pm: Idea pitching
• 9:00pm: Team formation

Saturday 10am-7pm: Work Day & Technical Seminars

• Teams work to develop & refining their ideas
• Technical Seminars:
  -- Jon Petersen, co-founder, buUuk
  -- Navjot Pawera, co-founder, Extra Thought
  -- Darrell Zhang, co-founder, Intraix
  -- Keith Ng, Co-founder, GameMaki
• Workshops:
  -- SAP will be organizing a short workshop for SAP HANA One and SAP Visual Intelligence
  
• Lunch & afternoon tea will be served
• Mentoring sessions throughout the day

Sunday 10am-4pm: Idea Presentations & Judging

• Teams put the final touches to prototypes and presentations
• Presentation Clinics conducted throughout the morning
• 1pm: Lunch is served
• 2pm: Presentations Begin
• 3pm: Judges determine shortlisted teams
• 3.30pm Winning teams are announced!
