[Session #1] Awareness-Based Coaching: The Coach as an Agent of Awakening

Welcome to a dynamic session with Dr. Dorothy E. Siminovitch (PhD, CSC, MCC) that introduces you to the increased relevance of awareness-based coaching and its relevance to complex coaching challenges.

Dorothy will present short didactics on the key principles of awareness intelligence, along with coaching exercises and a LIVE coaching demo that illustrate the power of awareness practices which are experiential, experimental, and always “in the moment” where choice resides.

Awareness is an ICF core competency and critical to the learning agenda across all schools of coaching. This workshop focuses on the principle of awareness management in coaching: the use of self as coach, the awareness choice points for effective intervention and the dynamics of awareness management in complex systems. In the collaborative coaching encounter, the issue of awareness management is an integrative skill for the coach to master.

Participants may expect to learn:

  • An introduction to the two key awareness tools
  • Understanding awareness patterns
  • Identifying the power of using awareness as an act of intervention in coaching practice
  • Linking awareness to accountability as two powerful aspects of coaching

About the speaker: Dr. Dorothy E. Siminovitch (PhD, CSC, MCC)
Dorothy is a key pioneer of Gestalt-based coaching and is teaching somatic and Gestalt coaching around the world for more than 20 years. She is able to make Gestalt theory visible and puts into practice a Gestalt methodology that leads to new insights and strengthens all coaching practices, regardless of approach. She is the Director of Training for the Gestalt Coaching Program in Istanbul and lives part time in Toronto, Canada. She is the author of “A Gestalt Coaching Primer: The Path Towards Awareness IQ” which has just been translated into Turkish. In this Masterclass, Kirsten Dierolf (MCC) will share her experience on how to learn masterful coaching. Kirsten will also share two of her most valuable tools with a LIVE coaching demo:

1. The double diamond of coaching – a tool to structure coaching sessions in a flexible way which enables partnering with the client

2. How to coach “the who” of the client – powerful questions and direct communication by the coach that serve to create most benefit in collaboration with the client

About the speaker: Kirsten Dierolf (MCC, MASFP, M.A.)

Kirsten works in close collaboration with the Academy of Solution Focused Training in Singapore, headed by Debbie and Dave Hogan and runs her own ICF accredited online coach training program out of Germany.

She is member of the ICF assessor teams for PCC and MCC and spends a lot of her time mentoring coaches for their next level of credentialing. She has been working as an executive and team coach for more than 20 years, mainly for global corporations. She is author of 2 books on Solution Focused coaching and of many articles. [Session #3] The leadership development and advancement of the Asian Leader in Western MNC - The gaps and its implications for Coaches

While meritocracy is a prerequisite for successful career advancement, there are few East Asian born and educated leaders at the upper echelons of Western Multinational Corporations (MNCs) located in overseas subsidiaries.

This presentation offers insight into the doctoral research that explored the facilitators and barriers to the career advancement of Asian born and educated leaders. The study examined the experiences of Asian leaders in Western Multinational Corporations. Qualitative interviews were conducted in order to answer the research question:

How do senior Asian leaders in multinational corporations who were educated in their native country through secondary school perceive their career advancement and ability to succeed in their workplace?

The principles of narrative research were used to focus on Asian leaders to garner their experiences of the opportunities faced in the Western MNC located in Singapore, to analyze the findings and generate conclusions. Key themes that emerged from the research were identified as five categories of tension in the life cycle of an Asian born and educated leader. The findings seek to inform Human Resource partners, Western leaders, Asian leaders, and future researchers on various culturally aligned leader developmental approaches to successful career advancement.

  • The phenomenon and the dilemma of the Western MNC locate in the Asian subsidiary
  • For Coaches to understand the theoretical underpinnings that inform their Coachees and their own ideologies
  • The relevance of this research to HR partners and leaders at all levels in the organization so that a targeted response can inform leadership development.

About the speaker: Dr. Sabreena Andriesz (PhD, MCC)

Sabreena is an executive coach, ICF mentor coach, certified coaching supervisor, psychotherapist and facilitator working in fields of therapeutic recovery, leadership development and organizational design for change. She started her consultancy The Conscious Choice Pte Ltd. in 2001. Her clients include government agencies, pharmaceuticals, financial institutions, oil and gas, information technology and niche business owners. Within these organizations she supports high potential programs, C-suite and senior executive development.

Sabreena holds a PhD in Organizational Development and Change from Fielding Graduate University, a Master of Social Science, Counseling, from University of Southern Australia, and a Master of Arts in Human Development from Fielding Graduate University. She is also an ICF Master Certified Coach, MCC, WABC Certified Business Coach, CBC, Certified Solution Focused Coach, CSFC, and a certified Coaching Supervisor through CSA. She is an Associate Coach with the Center for Creative Leadership, the National University of Singapore Business School and Lead Facilitator of the WABC Registered Corporate Coach, an international coach accreditation program at Singapore Management University.
