Event description

Description

The Adam Smith Center is an independent, economics-based educational organisation.

As part of the IMAGINE Conference 2018, this is a special breakout session for those interested in the study of economics today. Mainstream economics has been criticised by many to be unrealistic, unable to make good and useful predictions, and overly focused on material objectives like economic growth and GDP.

This is why new approaches have arisen such as behavioural economics; Richard Thaler won the recent Nobel Prize for his work on this. Heterodox schools of thought are also on the rise.

What should we make of this? Conducting this one hour session is Professor Randall Holcombe, an economics professor from Florida State University who has years of experience in the economics profession.

Event Notes:

  • Those attending the IMAGINE Conference need not and should not register for this breakout session, as your IMAGINE ticket already includes admission to this.
  • Individuals wishing to attend only this session may obtain a free ticket for it. If you wish to however, attend the entire conference which spans both the August 10-11, you need to buy a ticket at imaginecon18.com
  • For those of you unaware, the IMAGINE Conference is a two-day conference exploring the "Future of Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Progress", and will feature high-level international speakers and experts on this topic.
  • Any enquiries should be directed to enquiries@adamsmith.com.sg
