Wines of the World: Old and New World Wines

This weekend at 75CL Tasting Lab, we’ll be featuring wines from around the world. Affectionately termed, ‘Old World’ – refers to wines of traditional wine regions of Europe, and ‘New World’ referring to wines beyond Europe.

Both unique and differing in style, has amassed its own followers. Wines of ‘New World’ comes from warmer region, which tends to result in riper, more alcoholic, full-bodied and fruit-centered wines. ‘Old World’ tends to be lighter-bodied, exhibiting more herb, earth, mineral and floral components – which are base on ‘terroir’.

Though these are broader generalizations of wines of these regions, the best way to discover is always through tasting.
