About the programme
Architects and spatial designers have a keen sense of volume, space, and light. They think and work in 3D and at human scale. What happens when they are confronted with designing textiles – fluid surfaces with no definite form, that are constructed at a micro-scale of hair-line resolution?
Join local studios Goy Architects and PI Architects in a causal discussion on their approaches to design, and their experience designing textiles for Woven Network initiative, a collaboration with Color Silk, a Cambodian social enterprise of female silk weavers. The discussion is moderated by artist Tiffany Loy, who is also the initiator of Woven Network.

About the participating studios:
Goy Architects was established in 2015 by Goy Zhenru — it has now grown into a team of 8, with offices in Indonesia and Thailand. As a practice, Goy Architects have always taken a keen interest in vernacular architecture and craftsmanship. Working regionally with local craftsmen and contractors, the practice has a repertoire of working with both large and small-scale design, producing a range of furniture, custom-made objects such as tiles and crockery to be used for the homes and projects they design. https://www.goyarchitects.com/
Established in 2017, PI Architects is a multi-disciplinary design partnership led by Paul Yeo and Ivan Soh. With a combined professional experience of more than a decade, Paul and Ivan have designed and managed a wide range of projects from the small scale of a private home to the large scale of urban design. At PI, we believe people centric design takes equal precedence with spatial design and we strive to bring something unique in each of our projects and yet maintain a sense of continuity in our design thinking. https://www.piarchitects.sg/
About the speakers:
Nichole Ho (Goy Architects):Nichole completed her undergraduate and masters studies at the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL. She enjoys working with tactility, colour and exploring architecture on an intimate scale. Prior to obtaining her MArch, she has worked in local design and architecture practices RSP and Produce, working across a range of residential and commercial projects locally and regionally.
Laura Tan (Goy Architects) :Laura is a graduate from the National University of Singapore with internships locally and in Paris, gaining experience at SCDA Architects, Louis Vuitton's Architecture Department and Atelier Jean Nouvel. She has an interest in the relationship between culture, social practices, and the built environment, and hopes to create spaces that tell meaningful stories and build communal memories to unite people.
About the moderator:
Tiffany Loy is a Singaporean artist, trained in industrial design in Singapore, and textile-weaving in Kyoto. Loy graduated from the Royal College of Art, with an MA in Textiles, specialising in weaving, and was a recipient of the DesignSingapore Scholarship. Since the founding of her studio in 2014, Loy’s experimental works have been exhibited internationally, at venues such as Singapore Art Museum, Kyoto Municipal Museum of Art, and La Triennale di Milano.
Exploring relationships between elements of materiality such as colour, structure, and tension, Loy invites viewers to take a closer look and indulge in the act of observing materials. Loy’s background in product and textile design has led to her unique approach in creating materials with minute details, while keeping in mind their overall impact in the larger, spatial context. https://tiffanyloy.com/
