About this event
Writing the City: Writer’s Cove
It's just a fancy name for the writer's group we're running. This is an in-person programme at the Toa Payoh Public Library, 15th October, 2pm to 4pm.
Here's the rundown:
✨ Participants can send in submissions (fiction or non-fiction) of up to 3,000 words
✨ Submit here: https://bit.ly/wtc-writers-cove
✨ Do indicate if your submission contains adult or explicit content, as well as content relating to mental health; we just want to make sure that everyone knows what they might encounter in your submission.
✨ The first five submissions will be critiqued and reviewed by the participants
✨ If we have more time we'll move on to the other submissions (according to the time and date submitted)
✨ Should the work gets published in the future (congrats in advance!), Writing The City would like to request a mention of thanks in the publication
And that's it. Hope to see you there!
About the Speaker
Benedict Lim Fang Jun is a sceptical idealist, forever dancing between two profundities. They were born and raised in Kota Kinabalu, the capital of Sabah, Malaysia. Based in Singapore since 2013, they are keen on exploring storytelling in all its forms.
They worked on thenational.api—a commission with the Southeast Asian Queer Cultural Festival by ASEAN SOGIE Caucus. In 2021, their short story, Your Life in Singapore, was published in Call and Response 2: A Singapore Migrant Anthology.
About Writing the City
We are a literary arts platform in Singapore which supports a community of new, emerging and established prose writers to develop their writing craft. We provide a space for writers in Singapore to share their work, and to give and receive feedback.
Our focus is on writing craft and technique in a Singaporean context. We organise monthly workshops, and with each workshop we explore a specific thread of the writing craft.
