Course Overview

“On 1st Sept 2013 the Fire Safety Act was amended to include all premises with Fire Safety Managers must set up a Company Emergency Response Team(CERT). The owner or occupier of the premises can be found guilty of an offence and is liable for a fine not exceeding $10,000 or imprisonment not exceeding 6 months or BOTH.”

The Respond to Fire Emergency in Buildings course prepares Company Emergency Response Team members (CERT) with the knowledge and application skills to function as a member of an emergency response team in order to implement the emergency response skills during an emergency incident in buildings.

This course will provide the Company Emergency Response Team members (CERT) in Public and Industrial buildings with valid petroleum and flammable materials storage license (< 5 metric tonnes). CERT, Fire Safety Officers and staff who are the first to respond to fire emergencies in the buildings with the skills and knowledge required to effectively respond to fire incidents.

A Statement of Attainment (SOA) from WDA/SCDF will be awarded upon successful course assessment.

20 CPD Points and 16 SDU Points awarded upon successful completion.

Who Should Attend?

Staff,Supervisors and Managers assigned to be SIC (Site Incident Controller) or Emergency Response Team member for their facility (Tier 2, facilities listed in the CERT requirements by SCDF)

Course Content

The participants should achieve the following competencies upon completion of the course:

  • Interpret emergency response legislations and guidelines
  • Identify fire hazard scenarios and usage of fire protection system in buildings
  • Demonstrate use of breathing apparatus according to BA wearer guidelines and entrapment procedures
  • Assess the emergency situation and conduct fire fighting to contain fire in high rise buildings
  • Participate in rescue and evacuation exercise
  • Handover incident and provide operational assistance to the appropriate body

Time: 9.00am to 6.00pm ( 2 days)

Course Fees: S$449.40 per pax (Incl. GST)

Singaporean and PR are applicable for SDF funding up to 95% depends on participant's age, income and qualification. Singaporean can use their SkillFuture Credit ($500)
