In this 4-part yoga workshop, learn how to effectively manage pain, both physically and mentally, through accessible & practical strategies.

About this Event

This training workshop is suitable for yoga teachers, physical therapists, caregivers, or even family members and friends, who would like to incorporate yoga as a complementary and holistic approach to manage pain effectively.

This workshop is YACEP (Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider) eligible for Full Workshop participants.

As pain causes changes that traverse the physical, psychological, and social aspects of one’s experience, it is essential and highly beneficial to take a multidimensional and holistic perspective of the individual when it comes to alleviating and managing pain.

Yoga and meditation have been shown in various studies to have potent pain-relieving effects on both the mind and the body in the long run. Beginning with the physical body, Yoga offers various levels and approaches to effectively relax, energise, re-model, and strengthen the body and psyche, eventually improving the quality of life.

In this 4-part workshop series, Osteopath and Yoga teacher Bryan Ng distills years of experience helping people with musculoskeletal pain into accessible and practical strategies for self-care.

The first workshop provides an overview of pain and the nervous system, informed by the evidence from current pain science research. Calming breathing and meditation techniques will be taught to improve sleep and resilience to stress.

In each of the subsequent workshops, we will explore the relevant anatomy and common causes of pain and dysfunction, followed by a guided practice incorporating mindful movements, trigger-points release & resistance-band work.

NOTE: Although the content for each workshop can stand on its own, they complement and build on one another. As such, participants are strongly encouraged to sign up for the whole series.

Session 1: OVERVIEW: Yoga to Calm the Nervous System (5 Dec, Sat, 3pm - 5.30pm)

Session 2*: Yoga for Low Back & Pelvis (6 Dec, Sun, 10.30am - 1pm)

Session 3*: Yoga for Hips & Knees (12 Dec, Sat, 3pm - 5.30pm)

Session 4*: Yoga for Shoulders & Neck (13 Dec, Sun, 10.30am - 1pm)

* A resistance band is needed for Sessions 2, 3 & 4. If you do need to purchase one from us at $10 each, kindly add it to your cart before checkout.
