Organizing an event

Why is the wrong image and other event information showing when I share on Facebook?

When you post the link to your Eventbrite event on Facebook, Facebook saves the details for later use. If you see an old picture or description shared on Facebook, you can fix this with Facebook's Sharing Debugger. Copy the URL of your Eventbrite event listing, then go to Facebook’s Sharing Debugger (you may have to log in to Facebook first), make sure you’re on the tab called “Sharing Debugger,” enter the URL, and hit “Debug.”

How to use Facebook's Sharing Debugger

When you first share your Eventbrite event on Facebook, Facebook saves the preview of your event for future social media posts. If you share your Eventbrite event on Facebook and see outdated info, Facebook likely hasn't checked your event since you last updated it. You have to fix this on Facebook — not Eventbrite. To make sure your Eventbrite event is updated on Facebook, you can force Facebook to check your Eventbrite event listing for updates.

  1. Copy the URL (web link) of your Eventbrite’s event listing.

  2. Go to Facebook’s Sharing Debugger.

  3. Paste in the URL you copied.

  4. Hit “Debug”.

TIP: You must be logged into Facebook to use Facebook’s Sharing Debugger.

PRO TIP: You can’t update existing Facebook posts, so you’ll want to delete any existing posts and re-share the link to your event listing to show the updated title, description, and thumbnail.

NOTE: If you don't see a change after using Facebook's Debug tool, try adding "?fbrefresh=ANY_TEXT" at the end of your event page URL. Then enter the full URL in the debug tool and click "Debug." Facebook might recognize this differently than what’s currently cached in their system.
