Indonesia is facing major environmental challenges, due to a high economic growth, rapid industrialisation and increased urbanisation, combined with a growing population, an intensification of land use coupled with deforestation, an ever increasing water usage and waste production (industrial as well as household waste), increased carbon emissions as well as a growing demand for energy and mobility capacity.
But those environmental challenges also create new opportunities.
Investments in environmental infrastructure has become a hot topic in Indonesia.
The purpose of the seminar is to showcase best practices and case studies of Belgium in the environmental & renewable energy sector and to strengthen co-operation between Belgium and Indonesia in those fields.
