About this event

Abstract:

Computational Design has become an essential part of the architect professional skillset, helping designers to realise intricate and fluid forms, speeding up repetitive task, creating parametric models that can be responsive to the environmental conditions, or simplifying their complexity creating logical models based on mathematical rules. These techniques are evolving rapidly and feed from the latest developments in computational science like Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, but architects and non-specialists can start applying some of the benefits of computational design by learning some basic Grasshopper and a few programming commands.

Join us on August 14th on a full day session where we will go through the details of this process in a sample project from conceptualisation and optioning within grasshopper. Interoperability with ARCHICAD via live-link or import/export, integration with simple GDL programming, python-script to automate ARCHICAD tasks and the use of visual scripting tools for object creation.

The use of these techniques can improve the efficiency any project, the quality of the outputs and highly reduce the time and effort spent on quality assurance and documentation production.

Speakers Details:

Jorge Benéitez

Is a Master Architect and Urban Planner by the Polytechnic University of Madrid (ETSAM). He has lived and worked in several countries across Europe, Asia and Africa. He is currently based in Hong Kong.

Jorge co-founded enzyme in 2015 with the goal of pursuing a better implementation of technology and the development of methodologies to improve the design and building process.

He is an ARCHICAD Registered Consultant and an expert on BIM and Computational Design, having developed workflows between both platforms seeking for better performance of the tools and enhancing the design capabilities of BIM workflows.

Marcelo Morim

Senior Manager, Business Development, GRAPHISOFT Asia Ltd

MSc Arch 2006 (University of Minho, Portugal)

Registered Architect 2007 (Portugal)

Graphisoft Certified ARCHICAD Expert since 2013

Became Graphisoft Registered Consultant working with ARCHICAD software since version 9.

Since 2006 Marcelo has worked and collaborated with contractors and architectural offices in Portugal, Brazil, Mozambique and Angola.

Working in roles as a Design Architect, BIM Manager and BIM Coordinator, gathered experience in Mixed Use Developments, Master planning, Commercial, Residential, Interior Design and Healthcare projects. Particularly in large scale projects in which he can get a coordinated, detailed work and presentations using ARCHICAD from early stage design to construction documentation.

In 2014 Marcelo joined GRAPHISOFT Singapore where he develops his work managing the ARCHICAD BIM Implementation in Singapore Key Clients and over SEA.

Marcelo is also a guest lecturer at NUS Department of Architecture and Department of Building where he teaches the best ARCHICAD practices since 2014.

Since 2017 is also an invited trainer at Nanyang Polytechnic, School of Design.
